CARC, Inc. held a groundbreaking ceremony August 31, 2015 for a new apartment complex located on Maplewood Drive in Sulphur, LA. The ceremony celebrated the official start of construction on Stroud Manor, a project CARC has been planning for the past four years.
The purpose of the facility is to improve the availability of affordable, clean, and safe housing for citizens with developmental disabilities living in Southwest Louisiana. “We are excited to expand and look forward to becoming an integrated part of the community here in Sulphur,” said Libby Leone, CARC’s Executive Director.
Stroud Manor will consist of four duplexes housing eight single bedroom units, a manager’s cottage, a laundry facility, and a community room.
The complex is named after Dr. Howard Stroud, the former executive director of CARC, who, before his retirement served the organization for over twenty-four years.
