CARC provides Special Instruction Services and Assessments in Early Steps

CARC Child Development Services (CDS) is a service provider for the Louisiana Early Steps Home-Based Early Intervention Program. Early Steps, a division of OCDD (Office for Citizens with Developmental Disabilities) provides services to families with infants and toddlers birth to three years (36 months) who have developmental delays or who have a medical condition likely to result in a developmental delay.

These services provide needed educational experiences for children with special needs and are designed to improve the family's capacity to enhance their child's natural development. The services are provided in the child's natural environment such as the child's home, place of daycare, or any other community setting typical for children aged birth to 36 months. The Special Instruction Teachers in our program receive ongoing specialized training which prepares them to meet the needs of children. CDS also provides assessment services to aid in determining the best course of action for each individual child and family. A highly skilled, caring staff coupled with a commitment to best practices helps to facilitate maximum enhancement of each child's abilities.

Funding for the early intervention programs is provided by:

  • Louisiana Department of Health & Hospital Early Steps Program
  • United Way of Southwest Louisiana
  • Private donations
